Jen Wood Photography bio picture

Hi ...

A little about me: I am completely in love with my sweet husband (Jeff), our beautiful daughter (London), our dogs (Jack and Morgan), and our life.  My other loves (in no particular order): family, spending time with great friends, warm socks, hot baths, traveling, camping, campfires, the great outdoors, autumn, being out on the lake, fishing (when we're catching something), 80s music, my girl's sweet and contagious smile, wine, my own caesar salads, laughing and then laughing some more. I am genuine. I am sentimental, often to the point of total sappiness. I am passionate about photography and have been for over 30 years (wow, maybe that dates me a little).

It is my hope to not only share with you some of the work that I'm doing and show off my awesome clients, but also to let you into my life just a little.  It's hard for me to find time to work on personal things when there is real work to be done, but I'm going to try ... really, I am.

So, sit back and peruse these pages.  If you see something you like, please leave a comment. Who doesn't like a little blog love?  If you'd like to be notified when something new has been added, please feel free to subscribe to the blog (RSS or email) above.  Thanks for stopping by!

Greyhounds …

Dustin called a couple weeks ago on a Saturday.  He broke my heart just a little … ok, a lot.  “I know you’re probably completely booked, but I was calling to see if there was any chance you had some availability in the next week or so.  I’m in a bit of a time crunch” (loosely quoted).  He proceeded to tell me that his divorce was just about final and that his soon-to-be-ex would be getting his babies!  He only had a couple weeks left with them. I could hear the heartbreak in his voice.  I could see the heartbreak on his face when we met at Starbucks the following Tuesday to plan his session.  He told me he had just thought of this idea to photograph them before he loses them.  He just wants to be able to remember …

So, the very next Sunday, I got to meet his Greyhound babies … Jovie (the pretty blonde) is 9 and J Boy (the handsome brindle) is 4.  These are two of the sweetest dogs I’ve had the privilege of photographing!  Dustin, I hope these are what you were hoping for.  I LOVED this session!

- Dustin - Thank you, Jen!! I love the photos and can't wait to see the rest. I'm blown away at how good they look. The session was so much fun. You have given me such wonderful memories of my dogs.

- Heather - These are beautiful, Jen. I can relate to the story... after 11 years with my ex, we were forced to split our furkids in the divorce. I took 3 and he took 3. It was heartbreaking as they were each my family as much as the next. It's hard, because they are not viewed like family in court but as property... which makes a situation like this almost unbearable. I WILL say to Dustin... 4 years after my painful divorce and after thinking my whole world had ended, I am now married to who I truly feel is my soulmate, and I have never been happier in my entire life. As a wise friend told me back then (but I was unable to believe for a while), "This is happening now because there is something and someone waiting for you down the road... a path you would have missed had it not been for ending this one. The light WILL shine again... and even brighter." Just wanted to pass those thoughts along, as they have proven to be so incredibly true... hang in there. :)

- Dustin - Heather, I cannot say thank you enough for your kind words! I have read that post multiple times now and I know you are right. Losing two family members (calling them pets isn't enough) that were such a precious part of my life has been extremely difficult. But I know everything that happened is for the best, and I'm fortunate that I'm already getting to see that!! Thank you!! I recently met with Jen and saw all of the photos and they were absolutely amazing! It is hard to believe that something as simple as pictures can be so moving. It was very difficult to narrow it down to just a handful of favorites. Jen, I will never be able to thank you enough for your kindness throughout our meetings and your willingness to work with me on such short notice. I can't wait till we get to do it again on happier terms.

- Baby Knox … » Jen Wood Photography - […] kinda love a happy ending … or in this case a happy beginning. My friends, Dustin (from this post) and Chrishelle were recently married and have welcomed a sweet baby boy into their family! I […]
