Jen Wood Photography bio picture

Hi ...

A little about me: I am completely in love with my sweet husband (Jeff), our beautiful daughter (London), our dogs (Jack and Morgan), and our life.  My other loves (in no particular order): family, spending time with great friends, warm socks, hot baths, traveling, camping, campfires, the great outdoors, autumn, being out on the lake, fishing (when we're catching something), 80s music, my girl's sweet and contagious smile, wine, my own caesar salads, laughing and then laughing some more. I am genuine. I am sentimental, often to the point of total sappiness. I am passionate about photography and have been for over 30 years (wow, maybe that dates me a little).

It is my hope to not only share with you some of the work that I'm doing and show off my awesome clients, but also to let you into my life just a little.  It's hard for me to find time to work on personal things when there is real work to be done, but I'm going to try ... really, I am.

So, sit back and peruse these pages.  If you see something you like, please leave a comment. Who doesn't like a little blog love?  If you'd like to be notified when something new has been added, please feel free to subscribe to the blog (RSS or email) above.  Thanks for stopping by!

Time to start a family?

Well, good news to those of you out there who have been on Jeff and I to start a family.  We think we might finally be ready.  We’re considering adoption and actually have the opportunity to foster a little guy as kind of a trial run, you know, to see if we’re REALLY ready for such a comittment.  Anyway, we picked him up on Saturday and are already in love with him.  At this point, I can’t imagine that we wouldn’t keep him.  He’s about 10 weeks old and has a ton of red hair (so he’ll totally fit in with the family).  He’s a VERY good baby!  He’s totally laid back, has a great demeanor and is a total sweetie! So, of course, I couldn’t help but get some photographs of him.  Take a look at this doll face!  But while you’re looking, be thinking of some names.  We have a couple ideas, but haven’t settled on anything just yet.  Feel free to leave a comment below if you have a great name we should consider.  So, enough talking already.  Here he is:

So for anyone who’s curious, he’s a golden retriever, lab, shepherd mix.  We picked him up from a pet rescue (  They don’t have an actual physical shelter, people just volunteer to foster the animals until they’ve found a home.  Every Saturday, the fosters bring them to a local pet store hoping to find them permanent homes.  We were actually going to take a look at a couple specific dogs I’d seen on the Pet Finder website, but they weren’t there Saturday.  So, we just started looking around, and saw him.  It was pretty much love at first sight for both of us.  He’s VERY calm for a puppy and super lovey.  He’s well behaved and mostly house broken!!!  And that face …

Jeff and I talked on our way there that we were just going to LOOK!  We weren’t going to come home with one.  But when we found out we could do a trial run and foster him, we were all over it.  Doesn’t seem so scary that way.  🙂

And if you’re wondering if he’s good with kids for when Jeff and I decide to have actual human babies … he’s great with them.  Maddie and Carson (our neice and nephew) came over just as we were getting home with him and he was GREAT with them!

Okay, I’m stopping now.  Seriously, if you have a cool name, let us know.  We’ll let you know for sure if he’s going to be a permanent part of the family and when we’ve found a suitable name.

- Terry - He looks like a Phydough.

- kspin - Oh, he looks so sweet! I am horrible with names, but maybe name him after something sweet! Cinnamon maybe? See, I'm not good at this! :) But, good luck!

- Karen - Go for it! He's absolutely adorable! How about Piper or Winston? We just jumped a few weeks ago and got dog #2 and we're totally loving it! Punk is loving life at our house and is getting along great with Maddoxx. Stop by our blog to see our crazy life with 2 pups running the house. :) Take care and happy puppy traning to you!

- Jamie Weiss - I don't know why, but my immediate thought when I looked at the first picture was "Butter". I don't really know if that's a good doggie name... but it was just the first thing that popped out. But in keeping with the "J" theme... Jeff, Jen &... maybe Jake or Jack or Jasper or Judd? Those are probably better doggie names! He really is a beautiful puppy!

- Jen Wood - Great ideas so far! Jamie - Jack is actually currently one of our top choices. Hadn't even thought of the "J" connection though. It's really more 'cuz we're fans of Jack Daniels :)

- Cynthia - Hi Jen! Such a cute dog & beautiful photographs!! I am one of the newbies in the camera club. I aspire to take beautiful photographs of my 2 rescue dogs and three human children. Thanks for sharing with all!

- Carla Christina Contreras - Jasper!
