Painting and puzzles and cars. That’s how we ended up spending our time together … painting pictures, putting a gigantic puzzle together and playing with cars. Ok, I didn’t actually get to do any of those fun things. I just hung out and took a picture or five while the family played. These are activities that the family enjoys doing together. What I love about lifestyle photography is that I get to capture families doing the things they love … the way they are … not just a perfected smile looking toward a camera. While I think it’s important to show the likeness of your family in portraits, these candid kinds of images can be so much more meaningful (at least they are to me). In a “portrait,” years from now you might not remember the things that melted your heart … that tongue that stuck out while in deep concentration, or how those tiny fingers wrapped themselves around a paintbrush, or the paci that he just couldn’t part with, or the beautiful chaos that simply comes with being a parent. Those are the things I want to remember and those are the things I want to help you remember.
These beautiful boys, Asa (the older) and Aubry (the younger), were perfect at just doing their thing while I observed and documented!

I believe I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again (and again) … I simply ADORE this family! A lot has happened in the two years since I photographed them last. The nest is now completely empty of human babies but FULL of fur babies! With Tori in Washington State and Tobin now in Texas, there is plenty of space for a couple more senior goldens. Casey and Rita have recently been rescued and now live happily with Maddie and Reilly (ages ranging from 9-14). Mom (Shawn) had her pack all under one roof for Christmas and needed updated photos with the new family. Here’s the fam! (Shawn, you look amazing, by the way)!

This girl makes my heart sing! Is it hard to believe I only have three … THREE … printed images of her in our house? She’s growing up too quickly! I have thousands of images of her, but they’re sitting on hard drives, un-touched! So, I’ve decided I’m going to start actually editing and sharing more of my own little family! That’s hard to do when you have actual work staring you down, but I’m starting to realize more and more that my clients aren’t the only ones who deserve to have beautiful photos of their families! I might even get some of these printed and hang them somewhere … GASP!
My sweet girl (and her curls) at bedtime …
