Jen Wood Photography bio picture

Hi ...

A little about me: I am completely in love with my sweet husband (Jeff), our beautiful daughter (London), our dogs (Jack and Morgan), and our life.  My other loves (in no particular order): family, spending time with great friends, warm socks, hot baths, traveling, camping, campfires, the great outdoors, autumn, being out on the lake, fishing (when we're catching something), 80s music, my girl's sweet and contagious smile, wine, my own caesar salads, laughing and then laughing some more. I am genuine. I am sentimental, often to the point of total sappiness. I am passionate about photography and have been for over 30 years (wow, maybe that dates me a little).

It is my hope to not only share with you some of the work that I'm doing and show off my awesome clients, but also to let you into my life just a little.  It's hard for me to find time to work on personal things when there is real work to be done, but I'm going to try ... really, I am.

So, sit back and peruse these pages.  If you see something you like, please leave a comment. Who doesn't like a little blog love?  If you'd like to be notified when something new has been added, please feel free to subscribe to the blog (RSS or email) above.  Thanks for stopping by!

Christa and David

Recently I had the opportunity to sit in on a whole day of learnin’ with a couple of awesome photographers.  This past spring, Amber Holritz and Corey McNabb brought the world (ok … the eastern half of THIS country) their Rockstar Roadtrip, and were recently asked by the Chattanooga Professional Photographers’ Guild to speak to their group.  (I know … I’m not in Chattanooga.  I crashed the party 🙂 .)  It was a nice small group of about 15-20 photographers.  I always enjoy meeting and mingling with fellow photographers, and this time was no different.

Corey brought us his knowledge on the wedding side of things, while Amber focused on lifestyle baby photography.  The “classroom” part of the day was from 9:00 – 4:00.  A ton of great stuff!  Then we ventured out to a local park where we met up with Christa and David, our models for the afternoon.  They are clients of Amber and Nathan (Amber’s equally talented husband) who will be getting married later this month and were kind enough to model for our group.  They were total pros in front of the camera!  The images below are some of my favorites from our group session.  Finally, we finished the day at Food Works, where I made some new friends and found a favorite new drink (thanks Amber and Corey) – the pomegranate martini!  YUM!  Thanks for a great time.  Christa and David, I hope you enjoy these:

And here’s one of Amber.  She cracked me up.  She said she does this all the time to Nathan – when she finds a great pocket of light, she’ll just stand there and wait for him to take her picture.  Problem … Nathan was busy shooting our models.  I got ya covered! 🙂 Beautiful!

I love seeing the many different perspectives on the same subject.  You can enjoy more images from the day at Corey’s blog here (you’ll have to scroll down to the September 25th post “Speaking in Chattanooga”), Nathan and Amber’s blog here and here, and Rich Smith’s blog here

- Rich - Jen, it was really great meeting you at the workshop! You were great to hang out with. Sad it was only for a day though. You did a fantastic job with the images. I'm sure Christa will be thrilled with them! Like you said, I love seeing different perspectives of the same event. It's amazing what one person sees compared to another. Anytime you're passing through Chattanooga, give us a ring. Take care!

- Christa - Jen, thanks so much for posting your photos! Love the shots with just our bodies touching....very sexy!!! We had a blast being "models" for this event and would do it again in a heartbeat. Great job!

- Corey McNabb - Great stuff!
